Make me know your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths.  Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; for You I wait all the day.  (Psalm 25:4-5, NKJV, emphasis added)

Jesus bore witness to the truth and we do the same when we wait upon Him.

Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?”

Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king.  For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth.  Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”

Pilate said to Him, “What is truth?”  And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, “I find no fault in Him at all.”  (John 18:37-38, NKJV)

What is truth?  This is an important question and it appears Pilate did not fully comprehend the truth presented by the Christ at this moment.  But Church tradition holds that Pilate and his wife became believers after the resurrection.  If this is the case the question was from a heart that was seeking truth.  We who are disciples of the Truth seek the truth in all things and should be passionate about our quest.  In our meditations we are pursuing truth by waiting on the Truth day and night while staying in His Word and in prayer.

You rightly say I am a king.  Jesus proclaims the truth in affirming the fact of His kingship.  He is the Lord of lords and the King of kings (1 Timothy 6:15 and Revelation 17:14).  This truth was radical in the days of the Roman Empire, and that Jesus made this claim in the presence of a government official was nothing short of usurping the Emperor.  But this is why Christ came to earth to rightly reclaim humanity for the Kingdom of God, with Himself laying claim to the throne of David.  Jesus the radical wants to work radically in you and me.  When we wait on Christ, and Him alone the Spirit transforms us and we become citizens of this great kingdom.  How glorious it is to know our King will lead us in truth.

I have come into the world to bear witness to the truth.  Jesus in the various trials leading to His death proclaimed the truth.  First to the Jews of not denying He was the Messiah and to the Roman of not denying He was the King of the Jews.  Jesus bore witness of these facts by word, deed, and death.  He proved His claims by rising from the grave and bears witness to these facts through us today as His Body.  The truth had a witness then and the truth has a witness today.  Wait to be empowered to testify of the truth before a court seeking truth, or bring to light those hiding from the truth.  Wait on God with great hope.

Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.  The test is now given to me and to you.  Do you hear His voice?  Are you waiting to hear His voice?  Be still and know that He is God.

But he who enters by the door is a shepherd of the sheep.  To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.  When he puts forth all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice.  A stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.  I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.  (John 10:2-5, 11, NASB)

As you wait upon God with these thoughts before you thank the Lord for His truth and His goodness toward you.  Wait upon Him patiently, expectantly, for the Spirit of truth to reveal Himself to you.  He who should be your desire gave Himself for you.  Can you give yourself totally to Him and His perfect will for you?
