Show me Your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths.  Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day.  (Psalm 25:4-5, NKJV, emphasis added)

His truth can be hoped for and we do this by waiting upon God with expectant hope.

For Sheol cannot thank You, death cannot praise You; those who go down to the pit cannot hope for Your truth.  (Isaiah 38:18, NKJV)

So Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The word of the LORD which you have spoken is good!”  For he said, “At least there will be peace and truth in my days.”  (Isaiah 39:8)

We continue to learn from the life of king Hezekiah of Judah.  Those who have developed character also have hope.  Hope is an important element of the person of faith and is mentioned some 143 times in the Bible.  Hope is to wait with expectation and patience.  Hezekiah expected truth because he believed in Him who was truth and had the character to walk in truth.  We too can have this hope by walking as Hezekiah did – in truth.

We can teach our children truth, the truth we learn from waiting on God.

The living, the living man, he shall praise You, as I do this day; the father shall make known Your truth to the children.  (Isaiah 38:19, NKJV)

The most important task a godly parent has is to teach his children truth (Leviticus 10:11; Deuteronomy 4:9-10, 6:7, 11:19, 31:19; and Psalm 34:11 and 78:6).  As we have been discussing, truth is the Lord and all that He has said in His revelation to us – the Bible.

Prayerfully read and meditate upon the following Scriptures regarding hope and submit to the Holy Spirit in all truth and walk as Hezekiah did:
