Show me Your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day.  (Psalm 25:4-5, NKJV, emphasis added)

We can be led in truth, and this by waiting on the Lord with hope.

Oh, send out Your light and Your truth!  Let them lead me; let them bring me to Your holy hill and to your tabernacle.  (Psalms 43:3, NKJV)

We will use the holy hill and the tabernacle as presented by the Psalmist as representing the presence of the Lord, where we desire to dwell through our waiting upon the Lord.  When we find ourselves in danger, when the troubles of this world overwhelm us, when we are in darkness and we lack vision, when we need the Light of the World (John 8:12 and 9:5) and the Truth (John 14:6) to lead us we cry out for the leading of the Holy Spirit.  The Spirit leads us to the presence of the Father where we receive the light and truth of the Almighty.  This psalm encourages us to seek the Lord in prayer to lead us to His presence by having the light and truth of God sent before us as we go along His path for us.

Lead as used here in the Hebrew means to guide, usually in the right direction or proper path.  The Lord desires to guide us along His path of truth and to be there with us every step of the way along His pathway to His presence.  When our desire works in concert with the will of God He leads us forward using the light and truth of His Being.  In this psalm the Psalmist is in prayer because of his enemies; he wants deliverance from the hand of his enemies.  He recognizes that his deliverance comes from a change in focus.  He replaces the focus of the threat of his enemies to that of being in the safest place of all – the protection of the Lord God Almighty.  The Psalmist recognizes his reliance upon the Lord to take him where he desires to be, at the Lord’s feet in worship in the tabernacle where the Name of the Lord resides, safe from the hands of his enemies.

When men fail us, and they will, our desire should be like the Psalmist, with purpose and resolve, turn from the world and move towards the loving care of the living God who desires our safety and to guide us by the light and truth of His Holy Spirit.  No light that the world may claim will bring us to a place of safety.  No truth, no learning, no education of man can bring us satisfaction in this world.  There is only one place to seek what we desire and that is by being in His presence.  We are led there by His Holy Spirit by waiting on Him with great hope.

Pray right know to be led into His presence to find what you need in your life – His will for you.  Learn to wait on God with hope and have the character of the Psalmist and ask to be led into His presence daily.
