“It is the soul silent unto God that is the best preparation for knowing Jesus.” Andrew Murray
“Quietness is blessedness, that quietness is strength, the secret of all true abiding in Christ.” Andrew Murray
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Romans 10:17)
These are wise words for the disciple to understand. The silent and quiet life is a life used by our God to help us to know Him, to abide in Him, and to grow in faith.
This life is lived with three things in mind: (1) with the need to block out the noise of the world which wants our attention and desires to lead us away from God; (2) with the understanding a time of preparation is to be expected; and (3) to have an ear ready to hear from our Lord and King when He desires to speak to us.
To accomplish this the disciple must make it his desire to be seeking God in prayer, in His Word, and in His will. Get rid of the noise and you can hear the Lord clearly in His perfect timing.
