Show me Your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths.  Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day.  (Psalm 25:4-5, NKJV, emphasis added)

The Scriptures tell us His ways can be modeled for others to see and this begins with waiting on God with hope:

For this reason I have sent Timothy to you, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church.  (1 Corinthians 4:17, NKJV)

The ways of God can be shown to other believers through the lives of those who are close in character to that of our Lord. Why is this so?  The reason God’s ways can be shown is because His ways are distinguishable from the ways of the world.  The difference between the ways of the Lord and the ways of man can be clearly seen.  The ways of God can be recognized when the mature in Christ are used to model this way of life.  This modeling is done for the benefit of both believers and to a world in need, the need of seeing true and authentic Christianity.  This character can be seen by all because Christ-likeness is the real person behind the actions.  These actions are the ways of the Lord.  As we have continually noted, this character and waiting on God are the distinguishable characteristics of the Christian life as God has designed.  Be like Paul and Timothy and let your character attract others to Christ.  A consistent life that waits upon the Lord draws others to it.

The Scriptures tell us we can know His ways are just and true and this is through waiting.

Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty!  Just and true are your ways, O King of the saints.  (Revelation 15:3, NKJV)

Right, just, right, true, and genuine are God’s ways is the meaning being conveyed to the reader of this passage (see also Deuteronomy 32:4).  The Lord’s ways are imparted to His followers in the form of the new nature, a righteous nature.

For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous.  (Romans 5:19, NASB)

Seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.  For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption this is in the world by lust.  (2 Peter 1:3-4, NASB)

Because we have been declared righteous by our position in Christ Jesus we should desire to walk in His ways that reflect our new nature in Christ.  This new nature allows the Holy Spirit to build upon it the waiting on God character.  The Lord has gone through extraordinary actions to make this character available to us who desire to follow His just and true ways.  We can live in this new nature as we wait upon Him with hope.

Pray that you begin to live in the new nature that has been made available to you.  This requires a moment by moment choice to be obedient to the Holy Spirit.  God’s ways lead to righteousness because He is righteous.  We can live in His ways by chosen to live in the power of the Holy Spirit.
